I'm Claudia. I'm a mother, and I've spent my career as a producer and editor — the winner of several Emmy Awards, along with a few other awards I'm proud of and don't need to list. Most of that work was made for a screen. This is made for real life.
I wrote and made the books. All five of them — the words, the pages, the tracing letters, the pictures.
I made them because I have seen what a real advantage it is to speak a second language, and Spanish especially. The hard part is never a child's ability — it is getting them interested without the whole thing feeling like work. So the books are made to be easy to understand: not intimidating, not too complex, just enough that a child reaches for the next page on their own. They came out of wanting my own daughter to hold both her languages at once, and finding that most of what existed treated a second language as homework.
We will retake a selfie eleven times to get it right. We fix the lighting, the angle, the expression. All that care — for the photograph.
Selfie Living is about giving that same attention to the person inside it, and to everyone in the house who is watching how you do it. Not out of guilt. Because it is fixable, and because someone small is learning how a bad day gets handled by watching you have one.
Recommendations I stand behind — some are things that have been through this house, these kids and our puppy. Others are things I have looked into carefully and would buy myself. I will always tell you which is which. This is the heart of it. Nothing is here because someone paid to put it here, and often enough the honest recommendation is to buy less than you were planning to.

And the part the name is about: you. Self-care, self-awareness, and the small daily editing. If I didn't like the way I reacted today, I notice it — and I work on it tomorrow. That is the whole idea: attention, then adjustment. It is the same instinct we already have with a photograph, pointed somewhere that matters more.
There are recipes here too, and puppy training, baby's first days, things to do with a bored child — in English and Spanish, written plainly, with no judgment. Those are a bonus rather than the point. The parent reading this at eleven at night is already tired and already doing their best. Nothing on this site is here to add to that.

Los hice porque he visto la enorme ventaja que es hablar un segundo idioma, y el español en especial. Lo difícil nunca es la capacidad del niño: es lograr que le interese sin que todo se sienta como una tarea. Por eso los libros están hechos para ser fáciles de entender — nada intimidante, nada demasiado complejo, lo justo para que un niño quiera pasar a la página siguiente por su cuenta. Nacieron de querer que mi propia hija sostuviera sus dos idiomas a la vez, y de descubrir que casi todo lo que existía trataba el segundo idioma como una tarea.
Repetimos un selfie once veces hasta que quede bien. Arreglamos la luz, el ángulo, la expresión. Tanto cuidado — para la foto.
Selfie Living se trata de darle esa misma atención a la persona que está dentro de ella, y a todos en casa que están mirando cómo lo haces. No por culpa. Porque tiene arreglo, y porque alguien pequeño está aprendiendo cómo se maneja un mal día viéndote tener uno.
Recomendaciones que respaldo — algunas son cosas que han pasado por esta casa, por estos niños y por nuestro perrito. Otras las he investigado con cuidado y las compraría yo misma. Siempre te diré cuál es cuál. Nada está aquí porque alguien haya pagado para ponerlo, y muchas veces la recomendación honesta es comprar menos de lo que tenías pensado.

Y la parte de la que habla el nombre: tú. El cuidado propio, la conciencia de una misma, y esa pequeña edición diaria. Si no me gustó cómo reaccioné hoy, lo noto — y mañana trabajo en eso. Esa es la idea completa: atención, y después ajuste. Es el mismo instinto que ya tenemos con una foto, apuntado hacia algo que importa más.
También hay recetas, entrenamiento de perritos, los primeros días del bebé, cosas que hacer con un niño aburrido — en inglés y español, explicado claro y sin juzgar. Eso es un extra, no el centro. La madre o el padre que lee esto a las once de la noche ya está cansada y ya lo está haciendo lo mejor que puede. Nada en este sitio está aquí para sumar a eso.
