Cuatro libros bilingües para colorear y trazar, para niños pequeños — escritos y hechos por mí.
Young children pick up a second language in a way adults simply cannot — not by studying it, but by meeting it often enough that it stops being foreign. That window is open for a few short years and it does not reopen.
These books use it while it is open. Each page puts an English word beside its Spanish one, with letters big enough for a small hand to trace and a picture worth coloring while they do it. The child thinks they are coloring. They are also reading, writing and learning a second language — and it never feels like homework, which is the only reason it works.
Every book ends with simple sentence building. Once the words are familiar, the last pages ask the child to finish a real Spanish sentence using the picture as the clue — so they leave not with a vocabulary list, but with sentences they can actually say.
These books are a first step, not a curriculum — just enough to make a child want more. They make it easy and fun, and they’re so effective they’ll give your child the confidence to start learning a whole new language. And there is nothing better than watching them realize they can do it.
Los niños pequeños absorben un segundo idioma de una forma que los adultos ya no podemos — no estudiándolo, sino encontrándolo tantas veces que deja de ser ajeno. Esa etapa dura pocos años y no vuelve a abrirse.
Estos libros la aprovechan mientras dura. Cada página pone una palabra en inglés junto a la misma en español, con letras grandes para que una mano pequeña las trace y un dibujo que da ganas de colorear mientras tanto. El niño cree que está coloreando. También está leyendo, escribiendo y aprendiendo otro idioma — y nunca se siente como tarea, que es justamente por lo que funciona.
Cada libro termina construyendo frases sencillas. Cuando las palabras ya le suenan, las últimas páginas le piden completar una frase real en español usando el dibujo como pista — así no se queda con una lista de palabras, sino con frases que puede decir.
Estos libros son un primer paso, no un plan de estudios — lo justo para que un niño quiera más. Lo hacen fácil y divertido, y son tan efectivos que le dan a tu hijo la confianza para empezar a aprender un idioma nuevo. Y no hay nada mejor que verlos darse cuenta de que sí pueden.
